Description of the Emblem

  1. The Wheel (CHAKRAM) at the top, according to Hindu Mythology, is a characteristic weapon of Lord Sri Venkateswara, an incarnation of Vishnu, and it is intended to connote that this University is named after Him.
  2. The heraldic elephant-heads and the lotus in the upper portion are taken from the crest of the University of Madras and are intended to connote that Sri Venkateswara University is an offspring of the former in the sense that the portion of the area which had earlier been in its affiliation is brought under the latter’s jurisdiction.
  3. The lower portion, showing the signs of hills, is intended to suggest the SEVEN HILLS the abode of Lord Venkateswara for which Tirupati is famous.
  4. The motto JNANAMSAMYAGAVEKSHANAM means “Wisdom lies in correct perspective”
